Tilo Wake Up - Identidad Digital

Is getting a identity faster than create a user in the social network? Is there any way to be free of a hacking attack? To what extent do we ensure our security on the Internet? We all have ever asked these questions and maybe even now we have not noticed what the answers are obvious.

The talk of Pablo González on our last Tilo Wake Up we can assure you that after this presentation, that we had again the privilege of celebrate in The Garden Space, will change your perception of Internet security (if still he has not done yet)!

What is the difference between footprint and digital identity?

Pablo González is Technical Business Manager at Telefónica Digital (Eleven Paths), computer engineer by Rey Juan Carlos University, Ethical Hacking and Pentesting with Powershell University and co-founder of Flu Project, which knows perfectly everything related to digital security, privacy and hacking. But what really is the digital identity and what is the difference between this and digital fingerprint?

La realidad supera a la ficción

The digital identity is something that allows us to authenticate to a system and know which person is behind this organizing actions while fingerprint are traces of these actions actions we have been doing on the Internet. So far, so good. The problem is when a hacker transcends the barriers of security and comes into play is when the invasion of the private digital environment by “unethical” practices such as phishing.

A hacker is an investigator, not a ofender

If they ask you the definition of “hacker”, would you know to give a correct answer? Looking for the definition, one of the meanings we find is referenced to the person with much knowledge of computers dedicated to illegally access foreign computer systems and manipulate them. However, Pablo González is in favor of a definition less offensive and let clear that “a hacker is an investigator, not a ofender or a pirate”.

Another different thing is to use these computer professionals do with that information they handle and step more, in which case, this action takes on another meaning: the ‘spy‘. In Pablo´s words, to be more or less likely to receive an attack on our privacy “depends on the awareness that people have (privacy and security on the Internet). If someone agrees to provide their passwords through a phishing is easier than you hack an account of a social network.”

Tilo Wake Up - Identidad Digital

Clearly we have to be very careful to all the elements we have at our disposal to strengthen digital security and password is one of them but not the only one! Authentication is one of the main keys for “make it difficult” to those who want to invade our privacy. Forget weak passwords containing achieving numbers, dates of birth or other personal information that is easy to find! The more procedures exist when access to a higher personal account will be security. However, 100% security does not exist, but we must put all possible obstacles to prevent theft in the digital environment,” he noted our enthusiastic speaker.

Celebgate, the most notorious case of hacking network

No one is exempt from receiving an invasion of privacy on the Internet, but the situation becomes larger when it comes to a celebrity, and enjoys great popularity and online reputation is at stake.

One of the most notorious cases in recent times, as well showed Pablo Gonzalez in his paper, is Kaley Couco, the American actress who plays the role of ‘Penny’ in the popular television series “The big bang theory”. The actress suffered in their own flesh the feat of a hacker to seep photographs and ‘intimate’ own, but she was not the only videos. Other celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence also suffered such attacks to privacy.

Perhaps the following would have been very useful tool for these celebrities and largely could have been avoided “stain” your personal brand. It is hesidohackeado.com tool with which we can see if our email has been hacked. It is a good start, right?

Geolocation: a powerful weapon for spies

If something makes our privacy is in the sight of the spies it is the geolocation social networks. These “curious” computer professionals are rubbing their hands with messages that leave those open social networks like Twitter because there are several tools that work through the API and these can be easily geotag.

Security is a mandatory dimension and privacy, a right

For his part, WI-FI public is another reason that endangers privacy, being the perfect target for hackers – spies because there are several applications that allow find out your personal phone from applications like Whatsapp.

At the end of our Tilo Wake Up these issues put on the table an important moral: always be wary of the digital environment in terms of privacy. “Security is a mandatory dimension and privacy, a right,” concluded Pablo.
